What a surprising weekend at the box office! Will Smith proved he is still one of the few remaining big stars that can pull in big numbers. “Happyness” (why it is spelled with a “Y” is beyond me, it’s a bit irritating) opened big and pounced on the competition. Although “Eragon” came in a healthy second, the bad reception by critics may spell disaster for word of mouth longevity. Another big bust was “Charlotte’s Web” which opened in third with a low take. I want to see “Web” but am a little tired of Dakota Fanning, maybe other people feel the same. Next weekend look for “Dreamgirls” to kick some serious box office ass!
