TV Review - The 2006 Fall Season (Part 1)
This is a new section I hope to maintain. I rarely post any reviews on TV and this time I will give a bit of a summary on which shows have peaked my interest. Some of my experimental choices have had some dreary results.
House Of Carters - This show is a train wreck! This family is a mess. Seriously, this show is a bad idea with no good results like other famous/fun bad shows; The Surreal Life, Being Bobby Brown and The Simple Life. Nick Carter supposedly wants his siblings to bond and become a stronger family unit. And what better place than a “Real World” cookie cutter reality mansion, it even comes with the cliche fish tank! Set in L.A. this show was conceived by Nick while he records his new Backstreet Boys album (which has been released already and TANKED!). This is bad, icky poo ca ca!
Jericho - This show may still have potential to better, even though I like it a lot. I know that doesn’t make much sense but the premise is great, the execution isn’t very good actually. The acting and the characters are pretty boring and are cookie cutter TV drama stereotypes. But, and this is a big BUT, I do like the creepy nature of the atomic fall out and impending disaster.
Survivor: Cook Islands - I like this season of Survivor. I call it “Survivor: Racist Island”. It was a great premise while it lasted, CBS chickened out after 2 episodes. Still though, this show has life even without a gimmick. This cast is engrossing and dramatic. I have my favorites already of course. I enjoy the tradition of watching the first reality show giant on Thursdays, its a habit.
The Amazing Race 10 - I like this show again. I have not watched the last 3 editions of this show and am glad I am into it this season. These teams are interesting and I noticed this group is not as mean as some have been in past seasons. It’s enjoyable to watch The Amazing Race again.
Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip - Aaron Sorkin bugs me. I never got into “The West Wing” and this show is the reason why. I don’t need to see every nook and cranny of how things work behind the scenes of the White House or of “Saturday Night Live” (which is what this show is loosely based on). This show drains the fun out of sketch comedy.
America’s Next Top Model - I love reality shows, and the gayer the better. This show is catty, drama and ridiculous! Really though, the photo sessions are creative and the advice Tyra gives is mostly spot on. This season is full of bitches ready to claw eachothers eyes out. I am rooting for AJ, Caridee or Brooke. This is great gay TV, if not the gayest on the air.

The Office - This is the BEST show on TV……HANDS DOWN!! The Office can be so moving in one scene and then make you squirm in your seat with uncomfortable feelings two seconds later. Michael is awkward and endearing at the same time. The Pam and Jim romance is the best on screen duo/love affair since Sam and Diane. I love seeing Jim working at another office and when he realizes how crazy his new co-workers are. This show is brilliant! I laugh so hard when I watch this show, and there isn’t a laugh track to be heard!
The Simpsons/American Dad/Family Guy - These shows are on a decline due to the brilliance of “Drawn Together”, “Squidbillies” and “South Park”. Not that I don’t like these shows anymore, it’s just that they are a bit soft and not as subversive. They are fun for a Sunday night TV session.
Heroes - This is “X-Men” light. I would say this is better as a series so far than the last X-Men movie was. I like the camera work and characters so far. The actors are great and the dialogue is not cheesy. This has potential to be great.
Dancing With The Stars - I take back what I said about “Americas Next Top Model” being the gayest show on TV. The difference is this show is not as fun. Actually it’s pretty lame. But my partner makes me watch it.

Love your BLOG! But then again I have always been a big fan of yours. I must admit that you have one glaring hole in your amazing TV reviews – Battlestar Galactica. Well, actually several holes. Have you checked out the following?
On Oxygen (not sure when the new seasons starts)
——————————————————————————————–
Suburban Shootout – Think Desperate Housewives meet the Sopranos (British)
Nightie Night – Twisted British humor at its finest. The English accents are so thick that season two is subtitled in; yes you guessed it, English, or American to be exact.
On BBC America
——————————————————————————————–
Little Britain – More twisted British humor.
Look Around You – A 2002 parody of a 1970s show trying to predict what the year 2000 will be like. This Takes a couple of viewings before it’s brilliance sinks in.

Ok, I like Jericho also. I make my partner watch it (well…he likes it also, but just doesn’t admit it. Whatevs, I hate that!) We watched it last night and thought it could be better with Eddie Cibrian, the hottie from Y&R and the ill-fated Invasion. Jericho would be the hottest thing on TV if Eddie came out of the shower as did Skeet Ulrich in this weeks episode…Oh-KAYYYY! Eddie, please come to Jericho. Even if you have radiation poisoning…we don’t care. You’ll still look Damn HOT!
