TV Review - The 2006 Fall Season (Part 2)
30 Rock - Between “Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip” and this sitcom, I think 30 Rock portrays a spoof of SNL better. This show has such great potential, it reminds me of “Arrested Developement” (the best sitcom of the past 10 years, hands down). Tina Fey, Tracey Morgan and Rachel Dratch are all here, fresh from SNL and they are hilarious. With those names alone this show could make you laugh out loud. Alec Baldwin is a great sitcom actor, he does comedy flawlessly. I think he looks great too. This is my favorite new 1/2 hour show this season! I laughed pretty hard, and for a pilot episode that says a lot.
South Park - The 4 boys from Colorado are back for season 10. And the show is just as sharp, shrewd and cringe inducing as it ever was. The first episode on gaming was classic. South Park at times is brilliant and at the same time makes you look away in disgust. The mix of shock and brilliance is still fresh. The latest episode on 9/11 was heated and pretty brave.
Drawn Together - I am loving this show more and more. The lengths the creators will go to to gross you out and make you laugh is crazy. Captain Hero has become the stand out character in this show. I know some people cannot handle the violence and racial humor, I eat up with a spoon. The more inappropriate the better. This show delivers edgy, un-PC, sick humor with great results!
Freak Show - The sketchy animation and squiggly drawings may turn some people off. The voice work by David Cross is great, some of the jokes take a while but I like that too. It is not obvious humor like in South Park or Drawn Together. I will watch this show a few more times, at this point it is a toss up if it will maintain the humor.
Saturday Night Live - The first 2 episodes of the new season are pitch perfect. Jamie Pressley did a bang up job as host last week. I am a huge fan of the new cast members. I loved the “Fugly Besty’ bit during the news. Seth Meyer is a good replacement for Tina Fey, he did a great job. I think this show will pick up and turn out some great skits this season. Amy Pohler is a genius!
The View - I used to hate Rosie O’Donnell. When she had her own show she was too nice and PC. As soon as Star Jones was sacked and replaced I though that The View was in trouble, not that it was high art when Star was there. All of a sudden this show has life. The format works for the first time and I actually laugh! This is white trash shlock, but entertaining shlock at that!
Lost - This is the best drama on TV, hands down! The show manages to puzzle and clear up things at the same time, leaving you craving for more. I love the twists this season has laid out already. I am hooked and cannot wait for Tuesday nights. I have so many questions unanswered and don’t care how long it takes to get them explained. The show hooks you in and won’t let go.
Ugly Betty - This has to be the best hour long comedy/drama on t.v. at the moment. I have watched 2 episodes and have fallen in love with Betty. Somehow the show leaves the viewer feeling good after watching it. It is light hearted, sweet and innocent enough. I am looking forward to seeing how this series evolves. The characters and dialogue are very original.

Hi,
I’ve been waiting for 451 to get up and running. I like the site you have here, tons of information. I’m more interested in the TV parts, because I have my own TV review site, http://www.etvreviewer.com Anyway, I agree with you on Lost, and also that crazy ass cartoon Drawn Together.
Keep up the good work. I’m actually going to be applying to write here when the applications open up again. This seems like a great site. Please come on over to my site, and maybe we can be friends.
Aaron.
