The “Milk” Movie Trailer w/ Sean Penn is Moving & Brilliant

“Milk” is a 2008 biopic about the later life and assassination of San Francisco city supervisor/gay rights activist Harvey Milk (played by Sean Penn). The film is directed by Gus Van Sant who made “Good Will Hunting.” The film is one of two films about Harvey Milk. The other, an adaptation by Bryan Singer, The Mayor of Castro Street, was suspended due to the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike.

Even though this movie screams of Oscar bait I think it will have an emotional effect on people and maybe this election season will be more emotionally charged. This film and Oliver Stone’s “W.” bio-pic of George W. Bush are sure to piss off a few Republican talking heads but who cares? These stories need to be told and who else better to tell them? Watch the trailer below:
