Saturday Night Live Is Doing Fine!

by

Some critics are saying that SNL is in a slump. I disagree. For the first time in a long time SNL has become silly, fresh and irreverent. It is all thanks to the new head writer Seth Meyer and his co-anchor in the news Amy Poehler. The skits are smaller and a bit more subversive and silly. I like that there is a lot less political humor so far this season.

CAST RUNDOWN:

Maya Rudolph - Welcome back, you were missed last year while you were out during maternity leave.

Will Forte - His Jon Bovi skit is freakin hilarious!

Fred Armisen - His “Fugly Betsy” is inspired. He does a dead on Prince too!

Jason Sudeikis - He does great news segments, and is one of “The Needlers”

Kenan Thompson - Will we see the “Deep House Dish” skit anymore? PLEASE!

Andy Samberg - His mini digital skits are already YouTube/stoner classics.

Bill Hader - The best impressionist in the cast.

Kristen Wiig - One of “The Needlers” and the new leading female talent.

The best skit in the new cast is definately “The Needlers” with Kristen Wiig and Jason Sudeikis. It is classic SNL with a fresh hilarious spin. It is shame that we may not see newly classic skits like “Gays In Space” and “Hey RIIIIIICK!” due to the departure of ex cast members Chris Parnell and Horatio Sanz.

On this date in 1962, Steve "The Crocodile Hunter" Irwin was born -- no doubt in little tan shorts. I have no idea how he got the nickname "Crocodile Hunter" as he didn't actually kill the crocs he [...]
