Slim’s Night Club - San Francisco 3/05/07

I had never heard Razorlight’s music until attending their show on March 5th at Slim’s in San Francisco. A good friend of mine gave me tickets for my birthday knowing I love the euro-pop and guitar driven music with hot lead singers. Man was he right on this one. Razorlight not only sounded perfect, they were fun and sexy. They had a much bigger fan following than I expected also, people were singing every word with the lead singer Johnny Borrell. Of course the girls were swooning over his half naked body and melodic falsetto. After the show I realized what all of the fuss was about over in the U.K. These guys sell out big venues and have had big success with their albums and singles.

I enjoyed their brand of light pop rock and British wit. Johnny Borrelll is a fantastic lyrical story teller and has genuine moments of comedic bliss in lyrics. The soft and building chorus’s and soft riff’s are pretty in the way Coldplay’s first c.d. was. I purchased the newest Razorlight c.d. and found out they sound just as crisp and fresh on c.d. as they do live. This is always the true test of a great rock band. Will these guys break it big here in the states? I doubt it, which is a shame these guys are what is new and hip in main stream rock these days.
