Old School Music Mini-Review: The Muffs - “Blonder and Blonder” (1995)
GRADE: A
The Muffs have been a 3-piece since 1995 with members Kim Shattuck, Ronnie Barnett and Roy McDonald. The Muffs are currently taking a long break from music but have announced they have not broken up.
“Blonder and Blonder” is the second album by the pop punk band The Muffs, released on April 11, 1995 on Reprise Records. The Muffs also covered “Kids In America” for the Clueless soundtrack.
“Blonderr and Blonder” far outshines anything that was out there at the time…They kinda sounded like Green Day, only better. The Muffs debut is song after song of nearly perfect power pop gems, complete with authentic screams from Kim, and high energy everything else from the band. This is what rock and roll is all about. It’s loud, infectious, raw and fast.
BEST TRACKS: “Oh Nina”, “Red Eyed Troll”, “Sad Tomorrow”, “Agony”, “Just A Game”, “On and On”, “What You’ve Done” and “End It All”.
