“Reno 911: Miami” is that rare t.v. to big screen adaptation that works, and it works very well. Unlike last years “Stranger With Candy” movie “Reno 911: Miami” is full of loyal inside jokes and potty humor that is uproarious. I laughed so hard at points in this movie I could hear my own laugh echo through the theater. The crowd watching the film seemed to be having a fun time too, more than once people laughed so hard it could be heard for minutes at a time.

The plot is familiar and much like the classic “Police Academy” movies from the 80’s. Richard Roeper enjoyed this movie so much he hopes to see a franchise born from this film. I couldn’t agree more, this movie deserves a follow up. The humor of “Reno 911″ has always been low brow and silly and this movie is loyal to those themes. There is even a great cameo by the hilarious roller skating character “Terry”. This movie brings all of our favorite characters to a whole new level. We fall in love with this group of dumb cops all over again.

Lt. Jim Dangle is my favorite character on this show, but I also love the inappropriate Trudy Wiegle and Raineesha Johnson. Their scenes in this movie got the best audience reaction. There is a scene with all the characters “pleasuring” themselves in a hotel that is pure genius. Luckily for us the best parts of the movie are not shown on the trailer or t.v. spots. The actor who plays Travis “Junior” actually wrote this movie and most of the “Reno: 911″ episodes. His knack for mixing gross out humor and witty charm is terrific.

If you are a fan of this film I suggest you see it soon, the movie has been sluggish at the box office so it will be gone fast. Go see this film with a bunch of fans of the series and let loose. You will notice the time fly and before you know it, you will be begging for more. The only other t.v. adaptation I am excited to see (other than “The Simpsons”) is the planned “Arrested Development” movie. I cannot wait to view “Reno 911: Miami” on DVD with friends who have not seen it, I am sure they will love it just as much as I did.
