Happy 48th Birthday Smurfs!

I had no idea The Smurfs were so old, but hey I loved the shit out of this cartoon when I was a child. Was Vanity Smurf the pass around boy before Smurfette came along? And what is the deal with Handy smurf? He really looks like a member of the Village People.

Yes folks, I am soiling a childs cartoon show with no real subversive meaning. But it is a total classic stoner cartoon and a silly innocent show. The Smurfs bring back a flood of Saturday morning memories. I used to collect all of the plastic figures when I was young.

How come we don’t get to see any reruns of this show? I know it was on NBC Saturday mornings for like 10 years! No, I am not running out of material I really think this is a bit of fun pop culture news! I am shocked we haven’t seen a Smurf revival yet. But don’t worry too much, apparently there is a computer animated Smurfs movie in the works, no lie!
