DVD Review - “Slither”
GRADE: B+
I have seen some sick and twisted gross out horror movies in my time, but this movie takes the cake! Peter Jackson’s “Dead Alive”, Eli Roth’s “Cabin Fever” and David Cronenberg’s “The Fly” are most likely the sickest horror gross out films ever made, with great results. I would put this film in that category.
“Slither” is not for the faint of heart. It has some pretty nasty death scenes and icky mutant monsters doing all kinds of oozing, popping and eating. Yep, I said popping and oozing. The town in “Slither” is taken over by monster mutating slugs from another world. I am sure there was another plot in this movie but I was too busy jumping out of my seat and laughing.
Oh yeah, this movie is a comedy too. In the middle of the blood, guts and horror this movie offers up some great laughs and comedic imagery. I am a sucker for sight gags and puns. Another pleasant surpise other than just being a slasher, splatterfest, alien, killer slug movie…it has zombies! “Slither” delivers on all sorts of levels!
This movie is a great Halloween movie rental. I loved the balance of gore with humor. The movie has a fresh vibe and feel to it. “Slither” was pretty overlooked when it was in the theatre, so now is the perfect time of year to view it.

I have been waiting for “Slither” to come out for sale for MONTHS now! I wanted to see it so bad in theatres but, well, shit happens. Only a few days left to wait! WOO HOO!
