DVD Review - “Click”
GRADE: D
I’ve never been that into Adam Sandler. “The Wedding Singer” and “50 First Dates” are my favorite movies of his. I tend to not care for his childish films, “The Waterboy” and “Happy Gilmore”. It is like watching an inside joke you are not in on.
This movie is no different. I mean what did I expect? Not Frank Capra, that is for sure. But Sandler tries to invoke the feelings of “It’s A Wonderful Life”, and it fails badly.
Are we supposed to root for a character that so obviously doesn’t need the power that he has been given. The plot seems like a stoner joke gone too far. A world where you can control your universe like a DVD or Tivo, seems like a fun idea….but is pretty painful to witness.
I had no sympathy for any of these characters. O.k. maybe the dog. That was also the only joke I enjoyed. If you dare go see this movie, or rent it you will know what I mean. And those moments do not make for a good movie going experience. I hated this film now that I reflect on it. Not even Christopher Walken can help this turd. Yep, I said it!
