Don’t Pay To See Mel Gibson’s “Apocalypto”….
…instead pay for something else, and sneak into “Apocalypto”. If you must, must, must go see this movie please do, just don’t contribute to making a racist more rich than he needs to be. Don’t give Mel the satisfaction of making any money off of his work, no matter how fabulous it may look (and it does).
My good friend Carrie came up with the idea that if people must go see this movie, they should…just don’t give Mel the box office numbers to make it a hit, and also pay and sneak. Pay for “Happy Feet”, then sneak into Mel’s movie. You will get to calm your curiousity and you’ll feel better for not helping out old Mel.
I have no doubt it looks good, or that he is a talented director. Famous people shouldn’t be able to regain their social and popular images after being openly racist or hateful. This movie could be a masterpiece, but I won’t participate in helping a deeply flawed person get more rich.
So let’s start a boycott, and not give our dollars to someone who could care less about everyday people and respecting differences! Besides, you’ll feel like a kid again when you sneak into the movie.
