Baz Luhrmann’s “Australia” Movie Trailer Is Fabulous!
“Australia” is an upcoming period epic film directed by Baz Luhrmann. Written by Luhrmann and screenwriter Stuart Beattie with Ronald Harwood also later credited, “Australia” stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman.
The story takes place during the bombing of Darwin in Australia during World War II. Production took place in Sydney, Darwin, Kununurra, and Bowen. The movie will be released on November 13, 2008 in Australia, and on November 14, 2008 in the United States.
The movie takes place during World War II, where Lady Sarah Ashley (Nicole Kidman - an English aristocrat) is left in control of a cattle station in Australia. She is assisted by an Australian drover (Hugh Jackman), with whom she becomes romantically interested. He helps to drive the cattle across the property as they are under the threat of nearby Darwin being bombed.
Luhrmann’s breathtaking visual style made “Moulin Rouge” a groundbreaking musical, can he do the same for the sweeping epic period piece? The scope and look of this trailer have me drooling already. I smell Oscar nominations! Watch the gorgeous trailer below:

I love the trailer for Australia with two of the most talented actors today Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman. I have been an avid fan of Hugh since Oklahoma on the London Stage. he is a very compelling actor and I find I feel I am part of the film. I am having a heartbreaking time at the moment and I dearly need to see this wonderful epic.
I am sure it will be a tremendous success

This movie looks wonderful! I have no doubt Baz Luhrman has a hit again!
Btw, does anyone know what music is played in the trailer? I know it is from a another movie, but I just can’t place it?

The song played in the trailer is “The Day is Yours” from Henry V. Composed by Patrick Doyle, performed by City of Burmingham Symphony Orchestra.

Everybody I know wants to like this movie, but we all have the same sense of foreboding that it going to be an embarrassing flop for us Australians. Jeezus, why did Baz have to arrogantly call it Australia? Nicole Kidman? She hasn’t had a box office hit in years so a lot of people aren’t going to want to see this for that reason alone. The plot looks like the type of movie we’ve all seen before (Cold Mountain, Australian style). I think the I’ll just pretend that it doesn’t exist…

Marcie, having just seen a preview of the movie, I would agree with your comments.
Nicole Kidman is about as appealing as a hessian sack.
A very disappointing movie.
