Avril Lavigne’s “Girlfriend” Music Video

This song is cute enough but I am suspicious of the title and melody of this song, isn’t it curiously similar to Ashlee Simpson’s better “Boyfriend” from 2 years ago? I wonder how long Avril will be able to use her youth as a marketing tool. I hope to hear some great gay remixes of this song, if not it won’t be worth all the hype and air play. I was never a huge fan of Mrs. Lavigne, her ballads are good but her “punk” inspired stuff is contrived. Supposedly her next album will have more of a pop feel to it, this approach worked for Jewel, let’s see if Avril has any luck at it.
