Angelina Does Black Face In The “A Mighty Heart” Movie
As a good friend of mine likes to say, “Yeah, I said it”! Yes I am cynical and an Angelina hater, but this movie does look riveting. But does anyone else think that it would have been more appropriate if Thandi Newton or even Halle Berry were in this role, women who are actually black?
It is true that wife of slain journalist Ron Pearl, Mariane Pearl, is half African American but why does a white actress need to black a role? It seems that this is a role that many African American actresses would die for!
This movie could be that bit of sentimental Hollywood suspense this summer needs. At least until suspenseful fictional fair like “The Bourne Ultimatum” and “Mr. Brooks” come out. I am real unsure about this one folks, I smell someone (Jolie) fishing for an Oscar (I’m just sayin’).

i’m with you.. thandie newton is PISSED. I mean, she was the heart and soul of Crash, and was snubbed. haven’t we moved on from the days when david carradine was the most asian white man you could find? strange, very strange.

Excuse me but Ms. Pearl is not African American and SHE wanted AJ to play her. Apparently she is of Cuban Dutch French origin. Are you telling me that Thandie Newton (who I love) has some special rights and insight that overules Ms. Pearl’s intimate opinion?

Actually she is part cuban and French and african american…get it straight…and I know she wanted AJ to play the role, but I think if you need to wear a kinky wig and put make up on to change your skin tone that it is just plain tacky….there are plenty of natural looking people who deserve to be considered….
