The “Bride Wars” Movie Trailer is Pretty Lame

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Will someone PLEASE tell Anne Hathaway to stay away from these vapid mind numbing romantic comedies please!? It’s bad enough we have to watch Kate Hudson stumble through another bad comedy, (she is the queen of shitty “chick flicks”, she stole the crown from Ashley Judd) but do we really have to see cute Miss Hathaway slum for money by taking this grating role? Watch the ridiculous trailer below!

READ THE WIKIPEDIA.COM SYNOPSIS BELOW

“Bride Wars” follows Emma (Anne Hathaway) and Liv (Kate Hudson) who are best friends, and since they were young, they have always wanted to be married in The Plaza Hotel. Planning to marry their to-be respective husbands, everything seems to be in sync–the dates are perfect, the dress is beautiful, and the maids of honor–each other, of course–are joyful as can be. This bliss is cracked, however, when the pair of friends receive some bad news: the weddings were planned for the same day. Neither willing to give up her dream wedding, Liv and Emma declare themselves to be engaged in the most heated and dangerous kind of war known to man–Bride Wars.

The “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans” Movie Trailer

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

“Underworld: Rise of the Lycans” is the third installment in the Underworld series. It is a prequel set prior to Underworld and Underworld: Evolution, covering the origins of some characters. The prequel will trace the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires and their onetime slaves, the Lycans (werewolves).

In the Dark Ages, a young Lycan named Lucian (Sheen) emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor (Nighy), the cruel vampire king who has enslaved them. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, Viktor’s daughter Sonja (Mitra), in his battle against the Death Dealer army and his struggle for Lycan freedom.

The “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian” Movie Trailer

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

“Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian” is the sequel to the 2007 holiday hit and it is a silly adventure comedy film starring Ben Stiller, Dick Van Dyke, Robin Williams, Amy Adams, Owen Wilson, Rami Malek, Hank Azaria, Bill Hader, Ricky Gervais, Christopher Guest and Steve Coogan. It is set for release on May 22, 2009.

WIKIPEDIA PLOT:

When the Museum of Natural History is closed for upgrades and renovations, the museum pieces are moved into federal storage at the famous Washington Museum. The centrepiece of the film will be bringing to life the Smithsonian Institution, which houses the world’s largest museum complex with more than 136 million items in its collections, ranging from the plane Amelia Earhart (Amy Adams) flew on her non-stop solo flight across the Atlantic and Al Capone’s rap sheet and mug shot to Dorothy’s ruby red slippers and Archie Bunker’s lounge chair.

The “Eden Log” Sci-Fi Horror Movie trailer is Spooky!

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

I am a huge fan of some of the horror films that have come out from the UK in recent years. Fun blood splattered films such as “High Intensity”, “Shrooms”, “Severance” and “Black Sheep” have delivered the bloody goods when it comes to real scares and gore. The new sci-fi horror film from the UK titled “Eden Log” looks like a spooky treat along the same lines as the ones mentioned above, check it out below!

READ THE PLOT SUMMARY FROM IMDB.COM BELOW:

A man wakes up naked, deep in a dark cave. He’s cold, in mud, and has no idea what brought him here, nor what happened to the dead man next to him. Around him, darkness and ruins of an ancient underground world, haunted by phantoms of an obsolete technology and by terrible, wild creatures chasing him. To find out who he is, Tolbiac (Clovis Cornillac) will have to get to the surface, through this strange network of galleries, abandoned by a mysterious organization called “Eden Log”.

The “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” Movie Trailer w/ Hugh Jackman Rocks!

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

“X-Men Origins: Wolverine” is directed by Gavin Hood and stars Hugh Jackman as the title character. It is a prequel to the X-Men film trilogy, focusing on the mutant Wolverine and his time with Team X, before Wolverine’s skeleton was bonded with the indestructible metal adamantium.

Set roughly twenty years before X-Men, the film will focus on Wolverine’s violent past, and his early encounters with William Stryker (Danny Huston). The Weapon X program and his interactions with other mutants will be explored, including his complex relationship with the villain Sabretooth (Liev Schreiber).

Movie Review - “Bolt”

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

*** STARS

Bolt is an American White Shepherd who has lived his whole life on the set of his action TV show, where he believes he has superpowers. When he is accidently separated from the studio and his beloved co-star, he meets a female alley cat named Mittens and a hamster named Rhino who team up to help him get home. Along the way, Bolt learns that he doesn’t have superpowers and the life he thinks he has lived is fake, and this is where the true comedy gold lies within this film.

Besides the crisp and vibrant animation this feel good family film has a ton of laughs. Rhino the hamster creates the best moments in “Bolt” with his adorable laugh and cut throat personailty. When he is on screen he steals every scene and he makes you chuckle with delight each time you see his little ball scurry along. What makes him even more hilarious is the delusional action hero persona he creates as Bolt’s nutty side kick. Watching him crack his knuckles and say “I’ll snap his neck” as he sneaks past a security guard had me in stitches. I also can’t forget to mention the utterly hysterical pigeons who also steal the show, they will have you in tears with laughter too.

It is about time that Disney created an original film that is actually worth the classic brand namesake. Much like “Lilo & Stitch” and “The Emperor’s New Groove” this film uses witty jokes and old school cartoon prat-falls as humor instead of trying to talk over kid’s heads with pop culture references and hidden adult humor. I enjoyed this cartoon just slightly more than “Madagascar 2″ because it is truly original. I think it has the potential to fill the third Oscar nomination slot along with other possible nominees “Wall-E” and “King-Fu Panda”.

This holiday season is packed with family entertainment with all kinds of stars and familiar faces. I suggest you take the little ones to go see this film instead of the other animated movies out there. “Bolt” is a fast paced ride with enough action for young boys and tons of cute talking animals for the little girls. Parents will not only love the creative plot but the jokes will tickle their funny bones as well. “Bolt” is the perfect holiday animated feature! Definitely catch it in theaters if you can.

The NEW “Terminator: Salvation” Trailer is Kick Ass!

Friday, December 12th, 2008

“Terminator Salvation” is title for the another sequel to the popular science fiction “Terminator” series. This film is directed by “McG” (”Charlie’s Angels”), it is the fourth “Terminator” film and stars Christian Bale as John Connor, Sam Worthington as the cyborg Marcus Wright, Bryce Dallas Howard as Kate Connor, John’s wife, and Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese. Moon Bloodgood, Common, Helena Bonham Carter and Roland Kickinger are among the supporting cast.

The film, set in 2018, focuses on the war between humanity and the machines employed by Skynet. It abandons the formula of previous entries in the series, which involved the Terminator and various other characters time-traveling to the present to protect or kill John Connor. I am a huge fan of this franchise and by the looks of this trailer Christian Bale is set to become the biggest action star in Hollywood.

My Favorite Holiday Movies of All Time!

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

I’ve never been a huge fan old holiday classics like “It’s A Wonderful Life”, “Miracle On 34th Street” or “White Christmas”. I prefer the more modern holiday classics. Here is my list of the best holiday movies to come out in the past 25 years.

A Christmas Story

1.) A Christmas Story - This is the best holiday movie ever. Full of classic Christmas scenes; the leg lamp, “you’ll shoot your eye out” and many more. The characters are timeless, and everyone can relate to the mayhem of Christmas dinner, photo’s w/ Santa and grandma’s home made gift (in this case it was bunny suit pajamas). This movie never gets old.

The Nightmare Before Christmas Movie

2.) The Nightmare Before Christmas - This is the best animated holiday movie out there, even those tired Rudolph and Frosty TV toons can’t compare to the brilliance of this picture. Tim Burton found a way to extend the Halloween scares into Christmas cheers. The soundtrack will last in your iPod from Oct. 1st through Dec 30th, keeping you in the holiday mood every step of the way. The songs, visuals and characters are timeless.

Elf

3.) Elf - This is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, let alone a Christmas movie. The childlike energy of Will Ferrell’s character keeps the laughter and holiday vibes rolling along. This movie is sweet, charming and inventive. Zooey Deschanel’s dry wit gives this movie an adult feel balancing out the youthful energy of Christmas, making this a big kids holiday classic.

Emmett Otter's Jug Band Christmas

4.) Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas - If you have not seen this genius, dark “Muppet” holiday movie, you were deprived as a child. Based on the holiday classic story “The Gift Of The Magi” this musical brings a flood of Christmas memories to mind. If you can get past the depressing subtext you will enjoy the music and production values of this early 80’s, lost Jim Henson gem.

Bad Santa

5.) Bad Santa - This is the ultimate anti-Christmas movie. This movie says “Bah Fucking Humbug” to all sappy Christmas movies of the past. The “Badder Santa” version is nasty, mean and fun providing great laughs and many shocks at St. Nicks expense. Billy Bob’s performance is understated and hilarious, all of this makes for a great anti-”holiday” movie watching experience. Watch this movie after having a crappy X-Mas shopping day, it’ll bring you some holiday cheer.

Scrooged

6.) Scrooged - Bill Murray makes this movie a festive comedy classic with catchy one liners and memorable scenes. This movie spins the traditional telling of “A Christmas Carol” into a modern day holiday parable. Full of great holiday references and cheer, this movie will make any Scrooge laugh. This new take on a tired tale owes much of it’s greatness to the performances of Murray and Carol Kane as “the ghost of Christmas present”.

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

7.) National Lampoons Christmas Vacation - This movie is silly, poorly made and full of bad acting. But, how can you not laugh at the many frustrating scenes of Griswold holiday angst. From squirrels in the Christmas tree, to uninvited guests to Christmas light power outages this movie makes fun of the excruciating holiday family gathering perfectly.

The Family Man

8.) The Family Man - This Nicolas Cage charmer is my hidden gem out of the bunch listed here. When it was released in 2000 many critics loved the sweet nature of the story. Cage plays a hard nosed corporate big wig that laments his lonely life on Christmas Eve. He wakes up the next day as a “family man” with a wife and kids, with the inevitable lesson to be learned. But this movie is not heavy handed. You slowly fall in love with Cage’s grumpy guy as the ice slowly melts from his cold heart. This is a touching and cute Christmas film. This is my favorite “Capra-esque” holiday film.

Home For The Holidays

9.) Home For The Holidays - Jodie Foster perfected the modern day holiday family get together movie with “Home For The Holidays”. This movie is the most realistic portrayal of the holidays on this list. Uncomfortable, hilarious, endearing and true to life “Holidays” delivers. The script is adult and fresh. Holly Hunter’s performance is fun and a stand out. This movie stands up to the test of time with each Christmas viewing.

Home Alon

10.) Home Alone - If you are like me then you have seen this movie hundreds of times. Each time you see it you can’t help but feel the Christmas energy, no matter what time of year it is. This has become a staple in the Christmas movie viewing tradition for most people who enjoy getting into the holiday mood.

The NEW “Friday the 13th” Movie Trailer is Scary!

Monday, December 8th, 2008

WARNING: THIS TRAILER SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME!

The new “Friday the 13th” film promises to be more along the lines of the first film in the classic campy horror series. The movies became famous in the 80’s and popular amongst horror movie fans for their heavy teen sex story lines and creative death scenes. After “Jason Takes Manhattan” and “Jason X” (”Friday the 13th in Space” as some call it) the franchise became tired and silly, the last offering which pinned Jason against Freddy Krueger was fun but it didn’t seem true to the series either. Who doesn’t get the chills when they hear the themse song to this movie? This re-imagining was apparently made for die hard fans, just check out the trailer below, but first read the Paramount Films synopsisof the new “Friday the 13th” film below:

“Searching for his missing sister, Clay heads up to the eerie woods of legendary Crystal Lake where he stumbles on the creaky remains of rotting old cabins that lie in wait behind moss-covered trees. And that’s not the only thing hiding under the brush. Against the advice of police and cautions from the locals, Clay pursues what few leads he has with the help of a young woman he meets among a group of college kids up for an all-thrills weekend. But they are about to find much more than they bargained for. Little do they know, they’ve entered the domain of one of the most terrifying specters in American film history - the infamous killer who haunts Crystal Lake armed with a razor-sharp machete…Jason Voorhees.”
