DVD Review - “You, Me & Dupree”

Monday, November 27th, 2006

GRADE: F

I won’t spend too much time on this trifling piece of crap. Yes, those are harsh words but what were these actors thinking when they read this script? This movie plays like a really bad episode of “Threes Company”.

The character of Dupree exhibits no signs of likability or of a good friend. The plot surrounds around him moving into his newlywed best friends house, this is preposterous as we the viewer cannot find a single reason why any of these characters thinks he is funny or sincere. He comes off sloppy, lazy and crude as a person which leaves us asking “why is he being invited as a house guest again”?

Kate & Owen Fall In Love

I personally do not see on redeeming quality from the character “Dupree” played with an annoying lazy style by Own Wilson. His presence on screen grates and is cringe worthy. Poor Kate Hudson cannot pick a good movie to save her life. And what was Matt Dillon thinking following up “Crash” with this turkey?! Lastly, why is Michael Douglas still trying to act again? His bad plastic surgery looks terrible in this second rate role as Kate Hudson’s dad. This man won an Oscar for christ sake!

Owen Wilson has officially become the most annoying actor on the big screen, his movies in the past have had mixed results. “The Wedding Crashers” was a hilarious modern comedy classic, even though the last half of that movie dragged on a bit. But after a laundry list of bad movies (”The Big Bounce”, “Meet The Fockers”, “I Spy” and “Starsky & Hutch” were critical flops) Wilson has proven he is not a big Hollywood talent.

Matt, Owen & Kate In A Movie Bomb

I prefer Luke Wilson over Owen, but that is my opinion. But not even Luke could save this bomb. The writing, plot and character development are amateurish at best. The predictable nature of the storyline is full of fart jokes, embarrassing physical humor and uncomfortable moments.

I am going to rank this movie as one of the worst of the year, as if you couldn’t tell. It is a shame so much talent went to waste, and that I spent $4 to rent this ugly mess. And for the record, Owen and Kate make an ugly couple. Apparently, Kate decided to divorce the father of her children after filming this bad movie. I guess this movie and choosing Wilson makes 2 bad decisions in row that Mrs. Hudson has made. Ouch!

Pam Anderson & Kid Rock Divorce, What A Big Surprise!

Pam Anderson & Kid Rock Split!

If you listen to the moral majority they will tell you that marriage between a man and a woman is sacred, but I couldn’t tell with all of the divorces and quickie weddings taking place these days.

First Britney & Kevin and now Pam & Kid Rock, is there any hope for famous couples? The whole anti-gay marriage hoopla is a joke, marriage has NEVER been sacred in Hollywood, it’s more of a joke it seems. * Sigh* So, why are gays not allowed to marry again?

More Computer Animated Penguins In “Surfs Up”

Sunday, November 26th, 2006

I like the Sony Animation line up so far; “Monster House” and “Open Season” were fun rides. I am getting sick of the whole penguin thing in movies and t.v. though, but this movie looks sweet enough. I like the sleak and vivid look of this trailer. I love cartoons a whole lot more than the average person so I will see this one on the big screen for sure.

The “Hot Fuzz” Trailer…Uh, It Rocks!

Sunday, November 26th, 2006

I think that “Shaun Of The Dead” was a zombie, action, British comedy movie masterpiece. Seriously, I love zombie movies and British dry humor. This new trailer for “Hot Fuzz” looks like it will follow the terrific elements that made “Shaun Of The Dead” a gross out comic laugh fest! Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are turning out to be one of the most hilarious on screen duos in film today! Watch it below if you don’t believe me and rent “Shaun” on DVD if you haven’t seen it yet.

Pop Culture Nuggets!

Here are some fun links to some fun entertainment stories that at swirling around Hollywood at the moment:

“The Hobbit” - The web site below says that Sam Raimi is the perfect choice for making a possible “Hobbit” movie, and I agree! Now that Peter Jackson has vowed to not work with New Line Studios or MGM, Raimi is the next best choice. But is this a good idea at all? Those three movies are perfect in every way, is a fourth really needed? I am curious to say the least. Check out the link with the info below:

“THE HOBBIT” STORY HERE

“THE DA VINCI CODE” MOVIE PREQUEL - I liked the book, liked the movie and am now pretty tired of all the hoopla and controversy surrounding the whole premise. I enjoyed the movie mainly due to the performances and location shoots, but will Tom Hanks really be suckered into another one of these? I doubt it!

“COACHELLA” MUSIC FESTIVAL EXPANDS TO 3 DAYS! - This is the best news I have heard in days! I went to my first Coachella concert last year and was blown away by the venue, huge list of performers and the fun time I had camping there! I am so excited for this, I can’t explain it enough in words! WOO FUCKIN’ HOO!!!!

“The Hitcher” Movie Trailer…Yep, Another Re-Make

Friday, November 24th, 2006

Have you seen the chilling 80’s original with C. Thomas Howell? If not you must Netflix it, got to Blockbuster or check your local cable provider to see this chilling masterpiece immediately! The last 15 minutes will have you squirming in your seat! I have little hope that this new version will be any better than the first one, but I hope to be proven wrong. After “When A Stranger Calls” I am wary about any so call “re-makes” of horror/thriller movies from the late 70’s and 80’s. I guess we’ll see soon enough!

“The Hills Have Eyes 2″ Movie Poster

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

I loved the re-make of “The Hills Have Eyes”, it will make my top ten films of the year, no problem. This poster doesn’t create much excitement, but the original was just so good I cannot wait for March 2nd of 2007. Here is a picture of the new psoter below, enjoy kids!

The “Grindhouse” Sneak Peak Is Here!

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

These posters were trippy and creepy, and now this sneak peak proves that this movie will kick ass even more! Directed by both Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez this movie has cult movie written all over it. I’ve got to see this movie, now!

Eddie Murphy’s “Norbit”

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

I am shocked, this looks pretty funny. Seriously, Eddie Murphy has a lot of talent but has made a lot of questionable choices lately. “Showtime”, “The Haunted Mansion”, “I Spy” and “Pluto Nash” were big bombs but he has some how maintained his grip on the family comedy genre. I enjoyed “Dr. Doolittle”, “The Nutty Professor” and “Bowfinger” a lot. This looks like another fun chameleon like performance from Eddie, and people will most likely eat it up.

Here is “Norbit” everyone…genius….

Hot Pic Of The Week: Brad Pitt

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

I posted this a few weeks ago, but now the actual Vanity Fair magazine is on the stands. This cover shot is hot, and I usually don’t go for Brad Pitt. He is working them wet white boxers out though! Check out what the big deal is below!

Movie Review - “Casino Royale”

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

**** STARS

Daniel Craig Is 007 in

I have never been a huge fan of James Bond films. I do love the Sean Connery films, and think he is the ultimate Bond. That said, Daniel Craig has really done a remarkable job as the new 007, he is so hot in this movie. I would even consider him my favorite Bond outside of Connery.

Hot Bond!

Daniel Craig exudes sex appeal, his pouty lips and hard as a rock body are drop dead gorgeous on the big screen. This movie is sleek and sexy, something the Pierce Brosnan films were not. This film reminded me of the spectacular “Bourne Identity” with it’s fast pacing, complex storyline and endlessly entertaining action. This movie is supposed to be a “prequel” and the rough edges of the Bond character offer some fun insights to the movies. Daniel Craig is so very believable as Bond, it’s a right fit that he was chosen to start the new series of 007 films.

“Casino Royale” is rated PG-13, which left me scratching my head. The MPAA must be smoking crack. The adult themes, sex scenes and violence were pretty hardcore. I enjoyed the grown up feel of this movie though, I am just shocked at it’s rating. The climax at the end is elaborate and worth the price of admission alone.

Bond Girls On

I loved the Bond villains this time around. They have a great balance of creepiness and humor that didn’t come off cartoonish. I loved the main bad guy “Le Chiffre “, his character was deliciously evil and his added bloody tear was the ultimate Bond movie touch.

I was impressed by the opening title sequence and following credits, although the Chris Cornell theme song didn’t have much appeal. The one Bond girl, Vesper Lynd , was pretty sexy and a great balance to the cocky 007 agent. Once again, Judi Dench gives a funny and tight performance as “M”.

James Bond in

The action sequences and writing are pretty flawless in this new 007 outing. I feel as if the series is starting off on the right foot with this new incarnation. Pierce Brosnan made the franchise limp and droll in comparison. This new James Bond movie is gripping, taught and fast paced, I loved every minute of it! The story and set designs are impeccable. This movie is a jewel in the crown of the 007 series, it is one of the best in decades!

Pixar’s “Ratatouille” Movie Trailer

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

I am glad to see something completely different coming from Pixar. They have maintained the quality of their films through the years, but they’ve seemed as if the ideas were waining with “Cars”. This teaser is quite good, the animation is slick and the colors pop out at you!

Brad Bird, the genius behind “The Incredibles” and the animated classic “The Iron Giant” is directing this movie as well, so expect excellence all around!

Next summer is looking to be a busy place for high concept films and studio tent pole outings with “The Transformers”, “Harry Potter” and “Spiderman 3″. Disney and Pixar are on a roll, and from the looks of this trailer, they are going to do just fine next year also.

“Harry Potter & The Order Of The Phoenix” Trailer

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

Now that “Star Wars” and “The Lord Of The Rings” are behind us, could the Harry Potter franchise be the best series of movies ever made?

Well, we do have the awesome “Spiderman 3″ coming out this summer. Those films easily make up the best trilogy ever, but this series is looking to be the best franchise of them all. Check out how hot Harry and crew are getting with age, wow.
